Information for Authors
The 8th International Conference on Digital Government Research is a forum for presentation and discussion of interdisciplinary research on digital government and its applications in diverse domains. Each year the conference focuses on:
- Research on digital government as an interdisciplinary domain that “encompasses inquiry at the intersections of computing research, social, political, and behavioral science research, and the problems and missions of government agencies.” (US National Science Foundation).
- Unique partnerships of university researchers and government professionals.

Keynote Speakers
William Pelgrin, Director of the New York State Office of Cyber Security and Critical Infrastructure Coordination and Founder and Chair of the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center (MS-ISAC).
Mr. Pelgrin will deliver a keynote address on lessons learned and challenges facing government agencies as they collaborate to share information about networks and computing infrastructures across state, national, and private sector boundaries in support of emergency response. His remarks will include a discussion of the key questions researchers might explore to support the cyber security community in their efforts, and the potential value of related research and practice partnerships.
Global Climate Change Keynote Panel
International and interagency data sharing, information technology, and modeling are all valuable tools for making improved observations about global warming, disaster warning, and changes in global land cover, sea level, drought, and air quality. This Keynote Panel will discuss why and how innovative computing and information technology are critical to international efforts to understand and mitigate global change.

Conference Research Topics
In response to the Call for Papers, the dg.o 2007 Conference committee received many well-qualified submissions from the computer science and social science disciplines. Individual research papers cover topics such as justice information sharing, digital archives, collaborating government agencies, and disaster management. The conference sessions will cover the following subject areas:

This year's program will include a full track of panels, which provides an expanded opportunity for discussion across a broad range of topics:
Posters and System Demonstrations
System demonstrations are held concurrently with the poster session to the accompaniment of good food and professional fellowship. The poster session allows presenters to discuss research contributions and have one-to-one conversations with other participants at the conference; the demos are an opportunity to showcase systems under development or in active use in research or practice domains.
Research Workshops and Tutorials
All attendees at dg.o 2007 are invited to participate in one full-day or two half-day workshops and tutorials on Sunday, May 20th. The workshops and tutorials are included in your registration fee and will only be held on Sunday.
Please Note: Most of the dg.o workshops require participants to submit a paper to the workshop organizers prior to the conference. Please see the individual workshop descriptions for the specific participation requirements.

Field Trips
After the dg.o 2007 closing session on Wednesday, May 23rd, the conference activities will continue into the afternoon with 4 field trips that are customized for dg.o attendees. This year’s field trips provide attendees with an opportunity to explore some of the local organizations that are engaged in or researching Digital Government in Philadelphia:

Birds of a Feather Discussions
Birds-of-a-Feather (BOF) discussions provide an opportunity for dg.o 2007 attendees to connect around thought-provoking topics in digital government. At this year’s conference, BOFs will be held during lunch on Tuesday, May 22, 2007. If you would like to propose a discussion topic, contact Anna Raup-Kounovsky with a title and a 50 word abstract prior to May 18, 2007. Sign up onsite by 8:00 pm on Monday, May 21, 2007 to lead a BOF.
NSF Principal Investigators Meeting
The dg.o 2007 Conference also hosts the annual Principal Investigators (PIs) meeting of the Digital Government and Information Technology Research (ITR) Programs. This invitation-only event is arranged by the U.S. National Science Foundation's (NSF) Digital Government Program and will be held at breakfast on Tuesday, May 22, 2007.
Digital Government Society of North America Business Meeting
The Annual Business Meeting of the Digital Government Society of North America will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2007.
