dg.o 2008 Conference

The DGSNA's 9th Annual International Digital Government Research Conference titled "Partnership

 for Public Innovation" took place on May 18-21 in Montreal, Canada. The dg.o 2008 hosted six working groups and tutorials, six panels, 14 different sessions and two poster sessions with with almost 40 posters. The topics ranged from emergency response and disaster management to social networks and Web 2.0. Plenary keynote address were delivered by Andy Stein and Edwin Lau. ePSIplus Conference

ePSIplus will host a conference on the re-use of public sector information (PSI) in the European Union on June 13, 2008, in Brussels, Belgium. This one day conferences offers an opportunity to engage in a dialogue to discuss and propose recommendations to the European Commission for reviewing the PSI directive. ICT 2008

The event will take place on November 26-27, 2008, in Lyon, France and include an exhibition showing concrete results of research in and around Europe related to information and communications technologies. This call for exhibition ideas is open to any organization involved in European research and development as well as deployment projects and associated support activities. This includes universities, research institutes, non-profit organizations, public authorities and commercial companies including small and medium sized enterprises. HICSS 2009

Call for Papers: Electronic Government Track at the 42nd Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences January 5 to 8, 2009 Hilton Waikoloa Village Resort Waikoloa, Big Island, Hawaii. HICSS conferences are devoted to the most relevant advances in the information, computer, and system sciences, and encompass developments in both theory and practice. Accepted papers may be theoretical, conceptual, tutorial or descriptive in nature. Those selected for presentation will be published in the Conference Proceedings published by the IEEE Computer Society. Terra Cognita 2008 Workshop

The goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers in a growing field of Semantic Web research: the intersection between Semantic Web data and geospatial data and applications. This workshop follows the Terra Cognita 2006 Workshop at ISWC 2006. Increased interactions between the geospatial and Semantic Web communities are likely to contribute to solving some important spatial data problems within the Semantic Web and to providing indispensable formalizations for upper-level and domain ontologies. GigaNet Workshop on Global Internet Governance

The Global Internet Governance Academic Network (GigaNet) will hold its first workshop on "Global Internet Governance: An Interdisciplinary Field in Construction", in Paris, France, on Monday 23 June

2003, 08:30-13:30. French co-organizers and sponsors are: GDR-CNRS TICS, DEL-CNRS network, Sciences Po, U. Paris 3 Sorbonne Nouvelle, U. Pierre et Marie Curie, and LIP6 Laboratory.  Workshop: "Cyber-Enabled Discoveries and Innovations" Initiative

The workshop will take place at 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM on June 14  at The Westin Seattle, 1900 5th Avenue, Seattle, WA 98101. It will consist of 3 invited talks, a breakout discussion session, and an NSF question-and-answer session. The invited speakers will be outside of traditional dynamic and control disciplines to spark multi-disciplinary interaction and collaboration (see workshop agenda for more details). For the discussion session, the workshop participants will break out into two groups to identify critical areas and issues relative to the CDI initiative. MeTTeG'08

2nd International Conference on Methodologies,  Technologies and Tools enabling e-Government (MeTTeG'08) will take place in Corfu, Greece,  on 25-26 September 2008. The conference is co-hosted event: 6th Workshop on secure m-Government  services. The conference intends to bring together researchers, teachers and practitioners active in the area of electronic government from different perspectives and disciplines with a focus on the role played by the information and communication technologies. European Spectrum Management Conference

GOSCON 2008 and International Open ICT Summit

Government Open Source Conference (GOSCON) 2008, and International Open ICT
Summit titled “Transforming the delivery of government services” will take place on October 20-23 at Crowne Plaza Hotel and Portland Downtown-Convention Center in Portland, Oregon,  USA. GOSCON 2008 and the International Open ICT Summit provide an educational forum for government IT executives to understand both the business case and real-world applications for open source methods and tools to transform the delivery of government services. Attendees will have an opportunity to hear lessons learned in the development and integration of open source solutions into production environments, and to establish communities for collaboration around common interests. EMNet 2009

Fondazione IRI Summer School in Management Studies
The summer school titled "Managing Organizational Learning and Change" takes place at
International School For Advanced Education in Pisa, Italy (www.siafvolterra.eu) on July 7-11, 2008.

NSF call for proposals Virtual Organizations as Sociotechnical Systems (VOSS)

A virtual organization is a group of individuals whose members and resources may be dispersed geographically, but who function as a coherent unit through the use of cyberinfrastructure. Virtual organizations are increasingly central to the science and engineering projects funded by the National Science Foundation. Focused investments in sociotechnical analyses of virtual organizations are necessary to harness their full potential and the promise they offer for discovery. More information is available at

NSF CluE initiative

NSF launched new Cluster Exploratory (CluE) initiative, which will provide NSF-funded researchers access to software and services running on a Google-IBM cluster to explore innovative research ideas in data-intensive computing. From this initial solicitation of the CluE initiative, NSF expects to award up to $5 million spread between 10 and 15 awards, depending on availability of funds. SSRC Dissertation Proposal Development Fellowship (DPDF)
The Social Science Research Council, with funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, is pleased to announce a call to faculty for interdisciplinary research field proposals for the 2009 Dissertation Proposal Development Fellowship (DPDF) program.  Established in 2006, the DPDF combines financial support and workshop experience for early-stage graduate students engaged in predissertation research and developing their dissertation proposals. The DPDF program is designed to intervene at a critical moment in the career development of graduate students in the humanities and social sciences by aiding their transition from students to researchers. It provides complementary interdisciplinary perspectives to students across the disciplines of the social sciences and humanities. Faculty applicants must be tenured at different doctoral degree-granting programs at US universities and apply in teams of two. DPDF Research Directors lead groups of 12 graduate student fellows in two four-day workshops Research directors receive a stipend of $10,000 each. TeraGrid III

A Town-Hall Meeting for representatives of institutions interested in submitting proposals for the next phase of the TeraGrid will be held at 10:00 AM to 1: 00 PM on June 25th at the National Science Foundation, 4201 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, VA 22230. At this meeting, NSF staff will discuss the

scope and intent of solicitations seeking proposals for design and implementation of the next phase
