Peter van Puijenbroek, Senior Scientist, National Environmental Assessment Agency, Netherlands

Peter van Puijenbroek

Peter van Puijenbroek (MSC) is a senior scientist at the National Environmental Assessment Agency (MNP) in the Netherlands, where he specializes in water management and biodiversity of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. MNP is an independent assessment agency that functions as an interface between science and policy, supporting national and international policy makers by analysing the environmental impact of policies and trends in society. MNP provides integrated assessments for both national and international outlooks.

Mr. van Puijenbroek’s present work centres around integrated scenario studies that interact with economic and social developments, European policy, and global effects of climate change. This study takes place in cooperation with the national agencies for economic analysis (CPB) and spatial planning (RPB). Puijenbroek’s specific task has been to identify and describe the effects of Dutch environmental policy and the impacts of human activities on ecosystems, biodiversity, landscape, and water management.  He is also the co-author of the Environmental Outlook for the Netherlands.
